We are proud to announce that the winner of the 2026 AIA NSW Regional Architecture Award for Heritage is Old Bega Hospital. Design 5 – Architects led a team of consultants on the restoration and conversation of this significant 1888 building which was devastated by fire in 2004. The project endeavoured to revive the building within the community, guided by our philosophy of respecting the fine balance between preservation and adaptation.  The Old Bega Hospital’s legacy endures as a valuable facility for the community.

With project management by NSW Public Works, Design 5 – Architects were selected as lead design consultant in 2020. Construction documentation was prepared with a team of consultants, and we subsequently worked closely with local firm Leser Build during construction, through to project completion in 2025.
