Architecture Bulletin: 2025 Australian Architecture Conference and Treasures of Tusculum

5 May 2025

The 82nd volume of the Architecture Bulletin will be released as a special edition dedicated to two major events in the architectural calendar — the Australian Architecture Conference and the Treasures of Tusculum exhibition.

Positioned as an extension of both the conference and the exhibition, the upcoming issue will feature in-depth articles, and a catalogue of the artefacts on display. The edition aims to provide readers with a richer understanding of the themes explored during the events and celebrate the heritage and innovation at the heart of Australian architecture.

An initiative of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Heritage Committee, the Treasures of Tusculum section includes detailed contributions from committee members, who have written the catalogue entries and contextual material for the featured artefacts. Senior associate at Design 5 – Architects and NSW Heritage Committee member Robert Gasparini has authored a dedicated article on Tusculum itself — one of Sydney’s most significant colonial villas — and its architect, John Verge. Gasparini’s piece explores the design, history, and lasting influence of the property, offering valuable insights into its architectural legacy.
