The Royal Sydney Golf Club is an elite facility that has historically been at the forefront of the development of social and sporting institutions in Australia. The Inter-war Clubhouse is a representative example of a combination of Arts & Crafts and Beaux Art styles, with a suite of interiors that showcases quality materials and fine workmanship of a traditional early twentieth-century club that prides itself on a sumptuous elegance, comfort, and generosity.

In 2024, Design 5 – Architects completed a Conservation Management Plan for the Clubhouse, associated facilities, curtilage and setting to assist and guide decisions to the place to ensure viability of its long-term use whilst retaining and respecting these significant values. Given the palimpsest of changes that have occurred to the place, Design 5 developed conservation policies that not only aimed to conserve its cultural significance but also identified and explored opportunities for change in individual elements and components to strengthen the values and core identity of the golf club.
